Pros
- Certified Organic Across the Range: Grandy Organics says every product is certified organic through the Maine Organic Farmers and Gardeners Association, and many carry Gluten-Free Food Program certification with batches tested below 5 ppm gluten.
- A Solar-Powered Maine Bakery: Since 2015 a former elementary school in Hiram has run on 288 solar panels producing about 95,000 kWh a year, and the oats come from Regenerative Organic Certified farms.
- Bulk Bags Lower the Price: Original Coconola costs $9.99 for a 9 oz bag but $63.99 for 5 lb, about $12.80 a pound, and Classic Granola drops from $6.99 for 12 oz to $24.99 for 3 lb.
Cons
- The store ships only within the contiguous United States, so shoppers in Alaska, Hawaii, Canada, Australia or the UK cannot order here and will need to look for Grandy bags through other retailers instead.
- Food cannot be returned once shipped, even unopened, and orders placed Friday through Sunday usually ship the following week, so try a single bag of a new flavor first and email [email protected] with photos if a bag arrives torn or the order is wrong.
The Verdict
What sets Grandy Organics apart is more than four decades of certified organic baking in a small, solar-powered Maine bakery: The company traces its start to 1979, when a couple of friends at a Baxter State Park campfire settled on making granola, and it sold small batches to Maine co-ops before adding roasted nuts and trail mixes. Known as GrandyOats until 2022, it is now owned by CEO Aaron Anker and bakes everything in a former elementary school in Hiram, Maine, bought in 2015 and powered by 288 solar panels that generate about 95,000 kWh a year. The FAQ says every product is certified organic by the Maine Organic Farmers and Gardeners Association, most are OU Kosher, and many gluten-free items are certified under the Gluten-Free Food Program, with each batch tested below 5 ppm. The oats are Regenerative Organic Certified, and Coconola, the coconut-based grain-free granola, uses Fair Trade Certified coconut and cashews. Prices are modest and fall with bag size. Classic Granola and Dark Chocolate Sea Salt Granola cost $6.99 for 12 oz or $34.99 for six bags, and Classic is $24.99 for 3 lb. Coconola costs $9.99 for a 9 oz bag and $47.99 for six, and the Original is $63.99 for a 5 lb bulk bag, about $12.80 a pound. Honey Nut Granola comes in a 36 oz bag for $16.99, and roasted cashews and trail mixes cost $9.99 per 8 oz. Orders of $65 or more after discounts ship free within the contiguous US by USPS Ground Advantage; one 12 oz bag cost $6.85 to ship in our checkout test, and Monday-to-Thursday orders usually leave within 24 to 48 hours. A few cautions apply. The store does not ship to Alaska, Hawaii or outside the US, food cannot be returned once shipped, and weekend orders wait until the following week. Classic Granola contains wheat, and the bakery also handles peanuts, tree nuts, wheat and soy, so read each label if allergies matter at home. A one-lot coconut recall in November 2023 was withdrawn after retesting showed a lab false positive. Start with a 9 oz bag of Original Coconola or a 12 oz Classic, then move to the 3 lb or 5 lb bags for the best price per pound.

Grandy Organics: what to know before you buy
Grandy Organics bakes certified organic granola, grain-free Coconola, trail mixes and roasted cashews in a solar-powered bakery in Hiram, Maine. Here is what the range costs, how shipping works and what to check for allergies.
Shipping, returns & warranty
Grandy Organics ships only within the contiguous United States; Alaska, Hawaii, Canada, Australia and the UK are not served. Orders of $65 or more after discounts ship free, and smaller orders pay a rate at checkout (a single 12 oz bag came to $6.85 to New York in our test). Shipments go by USPS Ground Advantage by default, and PO box orders always go by USPS.
Orders placed Monday to Thursday are usually processed within 24 to 48 hours; Friday and weekend orders may not ship until the following week, and holidays can add time. We found no published Christmas order-by date, so order gifts by early December.
Food cannot be returned once it ships, even unopened. If a bag arrives torn or punctured, Grandy may replace or refund it (photos may be requested), wrong or missing items are reshipped at no charge, and quality concerns are reviewed case by case while the product is within its best-by date. Refunds go to the original payment method; shipping fees are refunded only for the company's own errors.
Grandy Organics product lines
Traditional granola: Classic (the 1979 recipe with walnuts, cashews and wildflower honey), Gluten Free Classic, Dark Chocolate Sea Salt, Ancient Grain, Peanut Butter Dark Chocolate, Honey Nut and Gluten Free Honey Oat, plus Swiss Style Muesli.
Coconola: a grain-free, coconut-based granola with cashews, pecans and seeds, sweetened with coconut nectar and maple syrup, in Original, Dark Chocolate and Peanut Butter. Bon Appetit is quoted on the site calling the Original the very best granola.
Snacks and pantry: roasted cashews in Spicy Chipotle, Everything Bagel, Turmeric Ginger, Garlic Herb and Curry; Keto Power, Dark Chocolate Almond and Antioxidant trail mixes; and 3 lb bags of rolled and steel cut oats. Most granolas also come in 3 lb or 5 lb bulk bags, and the store sells a reusable Parfait Cup.
How to choose a granola
If you avoid grains or follow a paleo diet, start with Original Coconola; it is certified gluten-free and grain-free. If you want a classic oat granola, Classic Granola is the original recipe, but it contains wheat bran (as Swiss Style Muesli contains rolled wheat), so gluten-free shoppers should pick Gluten Free Classic or Gluten Free Honey Oat instead.
Check allergens on every page: many recipes contain tree nuts or sesame, the peanut butter flavors contain peanuts, and the bakery also handles peanuts, tree nuts, wheat and soy. Some granolas carry a California Proposition 65 warning for naturally occurring cadmium and acrylamide, which the FAQ explains.
For heavy users, the 3 lb and 5 lb bags cost far less per pound, and the products keep about 12 months in a cool, dry place; the company suggests freezing Coconola to keep its coconut crisp.
Deals & pricing
Prices are steady: $6.99 for a 12 oz Classic or Dark Chocolate Sea Salt Granola, $9.99 for a 9 oz Coconola, and $9.99 for an 8 oz bag of roasted cashews or trail mix. Six-bag packs and bulk bags bring the price down, for example $63.99 for 5 lb of Original Coconola, about $12.80 a pound against $17.76 a pound for the 9 oz bag.
The $65 free-shipping line is easy to reach with a six-pack or a couple of bulk bags. We did not find a published subscription discount or a current promo code when we checked on 1 November 2026.

About this review
Is this Grandy Organics review sponsored?
No. Grandy Organics did not pay for this write-up, see it before publication, or have any say in the verdict. If we earn anything it is a commission after you buy, and it comes out of the merchant’s margin rather than your price.
How was the Grandy Organics assessed?
By using it and by checking the claims made about it against what it actually does. Where our time with something has been limited, the review says so rather than implying more testing than happened.
What else have you reviewed in Food & Drinks?
Everything in Food & Drinks sits in the review library, where you can filter by budget and sort by rating, price or how recently it landed.
Do you update reviews after publishing?
Yes — when a product changes, when a price moves for good, or when we get something wrong. Corrections are made on the piece itself with a note saying what changed.
