Pros

  • One Card, Many Brands: A Dinner On Me card works in store and online at 95 brands, from Momofuku and Eataly to DoorDash and The Melting Pot, and a Choice card lets the recipient pick the category.
  • No Fees and No Expiring Funds: On Me charges no purchase, activation, monthly or inactivity fees, and its cardholder agreement says the funds never expire even if a card number is replaced.
  • Bank-Issued and Wallet-Ready: Cards are issued by Sutton Bank under a Mastercard license, load into Apple Wallet or Google Wallet for tap-to-pay, and hold 4.6 out of 5 from 70 Trustpilot reviews.

Cons

  • On Me cards work only at US merchants and the recipient needs a US phone number to claim one, so they suit friends, family and staff in the US; for someone in Canada, Australia or the UK, choose a gift card sold in their own country.
  • Purchases are final unless a card is defective, balances top out at $500, and a few reviewers had cards declined when a restaurant billed under a different company name, so send at least $20 and ask the recipient to check the brand list in the On Me app before paying.

The Verdict

What sets On Me apart is that one gift card covers a whole hobby or occasion, so the recipient chooses the store instead of the sender guessing: On Me was founded by Google veterans Darragh Meaney and Sitar Harel, and launched in December 2024 with $1.7 million in pre-seed funding led by Lerer Hippeau alongside Mastercard and Focal, as Fortune reported. Each card is a digital prepaid Mastercard issued by Sutton Bank and limited to brands in its category. The help center lists more than 60 categories, from running and yoga to coffee, travel and dinner; a Dinner On Me card, for example, works at 95 brands including Momofuku, Carbone, Eataly, Din Tai Fung and DoorDash. The company earns a commission from merchants when cards are spent, not from balances left unused. Senders pick any amount from $10 to $500, with no purchase, activation, monthly or inactivity fees, and On Me suggests at least $20 for mobile-wallet use. A gift can go out at once or on a scheduled date by text, email, link or printed QR code, with a note, photo, GIF, video or voice message. The recipient claims it in the On Me app or website, adds it to Apple Wallet or Google Wallet for tap-to-pay, or types the card number at checkout online, and can top it up from $5 up to a $500 balance. The underlying funds never expire, and a Choice card lets the recipient pick the category. The limits are clear in the fine print. Cards work only at US merchants, recipients need a US phone number and a smartphone or compatible device, and cards cannot be used for cash or to buy other gift cards. Purchases are final; only a card that was not delivered, would not work because of an On Me error or was issued for the wrong amount is reissued or refunded, if reported within 30 days. Trustpilot rates On Me 4.6 from 70 reviews, but replies to complaints often take over a month, and one reviewer's card was declined where the restaurant billed under another name. Send $20 or more, check the brand list for the card you pick, and choose the Choice card when you are unsure of their tastes.

Multi-Brand Digital Gift Cards for 60-Plus Hobbies and Occasions, Spendable at US Brands

On Me is run by On Me Gifting, Inc. and Secure Gift Holdings LLC of San Francisco (44 Montgomery Street, 3rd Floor, per its privacy policy), and its cards are issued by Sutton Bank, Member FDIC, under a Mastercard license. Co-founders Darragh Meaney and Sitar Harel previously worked at Google, and the company launched in December 2024 with $1.7 million from Lerer Hippeau, Mastercard and Focal. The range covers more than 60 themed cards, such as Dinner, Coffee, Travel, Running, Yoga, Golf and Gaming, plus a Choice card and corporate gifting.

There is no markup: you choose any amount from $10 to $500, and On Me charges no purchase, activation, monthly or inactivity fees. A Dinner On Me card works at 95 brands including Momofuku, Carbone, Eataly, Benihana and DoorDash, and the homepage shows Coffee, Travel and Self-care cards spanning 82, 70 and 66 brands. Recipients can add funds from $5, up to a $500 card balance.

Cards are digital only and arrive by text, email, link or printed QR code, sent at once or scheduled, with a note, photo, GIF, video or voice message. The recipient claims the card with a US phone number, then pays by tap-to-pay through Apple Wallet or Google Wallet or by entering the card number online; cards work only at US merchants in the card's category and cannot be used for cash or other gift cards. Funds never expire, a replacement card is issued if a card number expires, and Canada, Australia and the UK are not served.

All purchases are final, but a card that was not delivered, failed through an On Me technical error or was issued for the wrong amount is reissued or refunded in full if you email [email protected] within 30 days. Until the gift is redeemed, you can switch its delivery between text, email, link and QR code, and problems with goods bought go to the merchant. Trustpilot rates On Me 4.6 out of 5 from 70 reviews, with 7% one-star; most praise the ease and brand choice, while complaints mention a declined card where a restaurant billed under a different name and slow replies, often over a month.

Buyer's guide

On Me: what to know before you buy

On Me sells digital Mastercard gift cards built around a hobby or occasion, spendable at many US brands in that category. Here is how they work, what they cost and where the limits are.

Shipping, returns & warranty

Nothing ships: every On Me card is digital and arrives by text, email, a shareable link or a printed QR code, either at once or on a date you schedule. Until the recipient redeems the gift, you can switch how it is delivered. Cards work only at US merchants, and recipients need a US phone number and a smartphone or other compatible device to claim and spend them, so On Me is not an option for gifts to Canada, Australia or the UK.

All purchases are final. A card counts as defective only if it was not delivered because of an On Me error, cannot be redeemed because of an On Me technical error, or was issued for the wrong amount or product; email [email protected] within 30 days and On Me will reissue it or refund the full amount to your original payment method. Buyer's remorse, duplicate purchases and wrong recipient details entered by the sender are not covered. Problems with goods bought using the card are handled with the merchant.

There are no purchase, activation, monthly or inactivity fees, and the funds never expire. If the card account is ever closed, the cardholder agreement lets the holder ask for the unused balance by check.

On Me gift card categories

On Me lists more than 60 themed cards. Food and drink cards include Dinner, Brunch, Lunch, Coffee and Dessert; the Dinner card works at 95 brands from Momofuku and Carbone to The Melting Pot and DoorDash. Activity cards include Running, Yoga, Golf, Pickleball, Hiking, Camping, Rock Climbing and Winter Sports, and hobby cards cover Baking, Woodworking, Gaming, Music, Photography, Crafts and Reading. Travel, Self-care, Tech, Streaming, Pet and Home Improvement cards round it out.

The Choice card lets the recipient pick the category themselves, and On Me for business sends cards to many recipients at once with a tracking dashboard.

How to choose an On Me card

Pick the category the recipient spends on most, then open its page to see the brand list, since a card works only at those brands. When you are unsure, the Choice card hands that decision to them. On Me recommends at least $20 for smooth use with Apple Wallet, Google Wallet and tap-to-pay, and the most a single card can hold is $500.

For big purchases, the recipient can split payment with another card at most stores, though some brands, including American Airlines, Nordstrom and Bloomingdale's, do not allow it. Because cards are scheduled and delivered digitally, they also work as last-minute holiday gifts.

Deals & pricing

You pay exactly the amount you load, from $10 to $500, with no fees added at checkout and none taken later for inactivity. On Me makes its money from merchant commissions when a card is spent. We saw no discount codes on the site on 1 November 2026, so the value lies in the flexibility rather than a markdown. On Me: questions people ask

Straight answers about On Me, then how this review was written and stays independent.

About On Me

Is On Me legit?

Yes. On Me is a San Francisco company whose gift cards are issued by Sutton Bank, Member FDIC, under a Mastercard license. Fortune covered its December 2024 launch with $1.7 million from Lerer Hippeau, Mastercard and Focal, and Trustpilot rates it 4.6 out of 5 from 70 reviews.

Where can I use an On Me gift card?

At the brands listed for that card's category, in store or online, as long as the merchant is in the US. A Dinner On Me card, for example, works at 95 brands including Momofuku, Eataly and DoorDash. Pay with Apple Wallet or Google Wallet, or enter the card number at online checkout; the On Me app shows the full brand list for each card.

Do On Me gift cards expire or charge fees?

No fees: On Me charges no purchase, activation, monthly or inactivity fees. The underlying funds never expire; if the card number itself expires, a replacement card is issued for the same balance.

Can I get a refund on an On Me gift card?

Only if the card is defective. Purchases are final, but if a card was not delivered, cannot be used because of an On Me technical error, or was issued for the wrong amount, email [email protected] within 30 days and On Me will reissue it or refund you in full. Buyer's remorse and wrong recipient details entered by the sender are not covered.

Can On Me gift cards be used in Canada, Australia or the UK?

No. On Me cards are valid only at US merchants, and recipients need a valid US phone number to create an account and redeem a card. If a recipient lives abroad, On Me support can help the sender regift the card to someone in the US.

About this review

Is this On Me review sponsored?

No. On Me did not pay for this write-up, see it before publication, or have any say in the verdict. If we earn anything it is a commission after you buy, and it comes out of the merchant’s margin rather than your price.

How was the On Me assessed?

By using it and by checking the claims made about it against what it actually does. Where our time with something has been limited, the review says so rather than implying more testing than happened.

What else have you reviewed in Home & Garden?

Everything in Home & Garden sits in the review library, where you can filter by budget and sort by rating, price or how recently it landed.

Do you update reviews after publishing?

Yes — when a product changes, when a price moves for good, or when we get something wrong. Corrections are made on the piece itself with a note saying what changed.
