Pros
- Seals Containers, Not Bags: A 160W pump pulls each Tritan container down to -75 kPa in about 10 to 15 seconds through a patented airway, so soups and sauces seal as easily as berries.
- Knows What Is Stored: Every container carries an RFID tag, the base weighs loads up to 10 lb, and built-in Alexa logs what goes in so the Silo app can remind you before food turns.
- A Long Home Trial: First-time buyers on heysilo.com get 90 days from delivery to send the system back for a full refund, with free shipping and a one-year warranty on defects.
Cons
- Silo sells only within the contiguous United States and its 110V base is built for US power, so shoppers in Canada, Australia, the UK, Alaska or Hawaii cannot order it for now and will need a locally sold sealer instead.
- Silo's independent track record is still short after a Kickstarter that delivered about six years behind schedule, and the guarantee covers only a first device returned complete in Silo's box, so use it daily in the first few weeks and keep the packaging until you are sure.
The Verdict
What sets Silo apart is that it vacuum-seals rigid, reusable containers with one press and keeps a running list of what is inside them: Most home vacuum sealers rely on bags or a hose fitted to a lid. Silo's Tritan containers carry a patented airway (US patent 11,117,730, credited to CEO Tal Lapidot) that lets the countertop base's 160W pump pull them to -75 kPa in about 10 to 15 seconds, and liquids stay in the container, so soups and sauces seal as readily as berries. Each container has an RFID tag and a lid gauge that turns blue when the seal holds, the base doubles as a kitchen scale, and built-in Alexa logs what you store so the app can remind you before food turns, while Basic mode still seals without Wi-Fi. Silo says food keeps up to five times longer, though its own terms promise no set number of days. The Silo Vacuum Base is $399 on its own, and bundles cost $498 with four containers, $597 with 8 plus 2 free, $696 with 12 plus 4 free and $795 with 16 plus 8 free. Extra container sets run $49 to $99, a 2- or 3-year extended warranty adds $49 or $69, and eligible buyers can pay in 12 interest-free Affirm installments, from $33.25 a month for the base. When we checked on 26 October 2026, new customers were offered $100 off for an email sign-up. Shipping is free, orders usually leave the US warehouse within a few business days, and delivery covers the contiguous United States only. The reservations are real. Silo raised more than $1.4 million on Kickstarter in 2018, promised delivery for April 2019 and began shipping to backers in May 2025, so its retail record is short: Trustpilot shows no reviews yet, we found no BBB profile, and Shopify's Shop app rates the store 4.5 from 1,234 ratings, where buyers mostly report fresher produce and one found some lids would not seal until swapped. The containers work only with the Silo base, the smart features need 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi, and the 90-day guarantee covers only your first device bought on heysilo.com and returned complete within 10 days of asking. If the price suits you, pick the bundle that fits your fridge, use it daily in the first month and keep the box until you are sure.
One-Touch Smart Vacuum Food Storage With Alexa Built In, From $399
Silo is sold by FreshKeep Inc., which lists its address as 3000 N. Pontiac Trail, Commerce Township, Michigan 48390, and does its research and development through an Israeli subsidiary, Freshkeep Ltd. CEO Tal Lapidot is the named inventor on its US vacuum-container patent (11,117,730), and the company raised more than $1.4 million on Kickstarter in 2018 before it began shipping to backers in May 2025. The range is a single countertop vacuum base plus four sizes of Tritan containers that work only with it.
The Silo Vacuum Base costs $399 on its own, the Basic bundle with four containers $498, Essentials with 8 containers plus 2 free $597, Extended with 12 plus 4 free $696 and the Family Set with 16 plus 8 free $795. Extra containers come as a Short Duo for $49, a Tall Duo for $59 or a four-size Expansion Pack for $99, and a 2- or 3-year extended warranty adds $49 or $69. Eligible buyers can split the cost into 12 interest-free Affirm payments, and on 26 October 2026 the site offered new customers $100 off for an email sign-up.
Shipping is free and orders usually leave Silo's US warehouse within a few business days, but delivery covers only the contiguous United States, so Silo does not sell to Canada, Australia or the UK. The base measures 9.8 x 10.4 x 3.3 inches, weighs 5 lb and runs a 160W pump on 110V to -75 kPa, and it needs 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi for Alexa, food tracking and updates, while Basic mode seals offline. The BPA- and BPS-free Tritan containers hold 0.6, 0.9, 1.2 or 1.8 liters, go in the freezer and dishwasher, and each carries an RFID tag the base reads.
First-time buyers get a 90-day money-back guarantee, counted from delivery, on a Silo device bought at heysilo.com: Silo sends a prepaid label and box, the base and every original container must ship back within 10 days of the request, and refunds including tax and standard shipping reach the original payment method about 7 to 14 business days after inspection. The refund policy treats accessories, consumables and any later device as final sale, transit damage must be reported within three days, and the device has a one-year warranty on defects in materials and workmanship. The independent record is thin so far: Trustpilot lists no reviews, we found no BBB profile, and Shopify's Shop app rates the store 4.5 from 1,234 ratings.
Silo: what to know before you buy
Silo is a countertop vacuum sealer for reusable Tritan containers, with Alexa and a scale built in. Here is what it costs, how its 90-day trial and warranty work, and which bundle fits your kitchen.
Shipping, returns & warranty
Silo ships free from the US, and its FAQ says orders usually leave the warehouse within a few business days, with a tracking link by email. Delivery covers only the contiguous United States: Silo does not ship to Canada, Australia, the UK, Alaska or Hawaii, and the 110V base is not meant for use abroad.
The 90-day money-back guarantee applies to your first Silo device bought on heysilo.com and runs from the delivery date. To use it, email [email protected] with your name and order number, use the prepaid label and box Silo sends, and drop the base and all of the original containers off within 10 days of your request. Partial returns and exchanges are not offered. Refunds cover the price, sales tax and standard shipping, minus any promotional credit, and go back to the original payment method about 7 to 14 business days after Silo inspects the return. If you paid with Affirm, Affirm's own refund rules apply to the installments.
Check the box on arrival: transit damage must be reported with photos within three days of delivery. The refund policy makes accessories, consumables and any second device final sale.
The device carries a one-year warranty on defects in materials and workmanship; normal wear and accidental damage are excluded, and Silo says it will replace faulty seals. A 2-year extension costs $49 and a 3-year extension $69.
Silo product lines
Silo sells one device in white or black, the Silo Vacuum Base, at $399 on its own or in bundles: Basic with 4 containers ($498), Essentials with 8 plus 2 free ($597), Extended with 12 plus 4 free ($696) and the Family Set with 16 plus 8 free ($795).
The base measures 9.8 x 10.4 x 3.3 inches and weighs 5 lb. It has a 160W pump rated to -75 kPa, a built-in scale that handles up to 10 lb, Alexa built in and 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi for the Silo app, food tracking and updates. Basic mode seals without Wi-Fi or the app, but drops tracking and Alexa.
The containers are Eastman Tritan, free of BPA and BPS, in four sizes: 0.6, 0.9, 1.2 and 1.8 liters (about 2 1/2, 3 3/4, 5 and 7 1/2 cups). Each has an RFID tag and a pressure indicator that turns blue when the seal is good. They are dishwasher and freezer safe, and microwave safe with the lid off. Extra sets cost $49 for a Short Duo (0.6 and 1.2 L), $59 for a Tall Duo (0.9 and 1.8 L) and $99 for a four-size Expansion Pack. The containers work only with the Silo base.
How to choose a Silo bundle
Start with how much fresh food you keep. A single person or a couple who mainly wants berries, herbs and leftovers to last can start with the 4-container Basic bundle, then add containers later in pairs or a four-pack. Larger bundles include free containers and lower the price per container, and Silo says most households choose the 12-plus-4 bundle.
Check the practical limits before you buy. The base needs about 9.8 by 10.4 inches of counter space and stays plugged in, since it has no power button. Smart tracking needs a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi band. Same-size containers do not nest, though smaller ones fit inside larger ones.
Silo can seal soups and sauces if you stay below the MAX line, but hot food must cool to room temperature first. Its FAQ says cruciferous vegetables such as broccoli and cauliflower are not ideal, and it suggests renewing the vacuum every three to four weeks for long-term storage. Silo says food lasts up to five times longer, but its terms make no promise of a set number of days, so judge it on the foods you actually throw away.
Deals & pricing
Silo's prices are the same whether you pay in full or over time: $399 for the base and $498 to $795 for bundles. Eligible buyers can spread the cost over 12 monthly payments at 0% APR through Affirm (Affirm quotes rates from 0 to 36% APR depending on eligibility), and Shop Pay Installments is also offered.
When we checked on 26 October 2026, heysilo.com offered new customers $100 off in exchange for an email sign-up, not combinable with other offers. Silo has also run deeper short promotions: a Good Morning America 'Secret Savings' feature on 3 October 2026 listed Silo at $299 to $358, against $498 to $597.
Black Friday falls on 27 November 2026. If you would rather wait for a lower price, set a price alert on In-Right's Watchlist at /watchlist/ so you hear when it drops.

Silo: questions people ask
Straight answers about Silo, then how this review was written and stays independent.
Is Silo legit?
Yes. Silo is sold by FreshKeep Inc. of Commerce Township, Michigan, and its group holds the SILO US trademark and a US patent on the vacuum container. It is young as a retailer: its 2018 Kickstarter raised more than $1.4 million but began shipping to backers only in May 2025. Trustpilot lists no reviews yet and we found no BBB profile, while Shopify's Shop app rates the store 4.5 from 1,234 ratings. Buying on heysilo.com keeps you covered by the 90-day money-back guarantee.
What is Silo's return policy?
Silo offers a 90-day money-back guarantee on your first Silo device bought at heysilo.com, counted from delivery. Email [email protected], use the prepaid label and box Silo sends, and ship the base with all original containers within 10 days. Refunds, including tax and standard shipping, go to the original payment method about 7 to 14 business days after inspection. There are no exchanges or partial returns, and accessories, consumables and later devices are final sale.
Does Silo ship to Canada, Australia or the UK?
No. Silo ships only within the contiguous United States, and its terms say the products may be used only there. The base runs on 110V, and Silo's FAQ says it cannot be used outside the region where it was bought, so buyers in Canada, Australia and the UK cannot order it for now.
What warranty does Silo come with?
The Silo device has a one-year warranty covering defects in materials and workmanship. Normal wear and accidental damage are not covered, and Silo says it will replace faulty seals. You can add a 2-year extended warranty for $49 or a 3-year one for $69 when you order on heysilo.com.
Are Silo containers glass, and are they dishwasher safe?
No, they are not glass. Silo containers are BPA- and BPS-free Eastman Tritan plastic in 0.6, 0.9, 1.2 and 1.8-liter sizes. They are dishwasher and freezer safe, and microwave safe with the lid removed. They work only with the Silo base and cannot be sealed by other vacuum sealers.
Is the Silo vacuum sealer sold on Amazon or in stores?
Silo sells direct through heysilo.com, and as of October 2026 we found no Amazon, Walmart or Best Buy listing for it. Buying direct also matters for returns, because the 90-day money-back guarantee excludes devices bought from any other seller.
Is this Silo review sponsored?
No. Silo did not pay for this write-up, see it before publication, or have any say in the verdict. If we earn anything it is a commission after you buy, and it comes out of the merchant’s margin rather than your price.
How was the Silo assessed?
By using it and by checking the claims made about it against what it actually does. Where our time with something has been limited, the review says so rather than implying more testing than happened.
What else have you reviewed in Home & Garden?
Everything in Home & Garden sits in the review library, where you can filter by budget and sort by rating, price or how recently it landed.
Do you update reviews after publishing?
Yes — when a product changes, when a price moves for good, or when we get something wrong. Corrections are made on the piece itself with a note saying what changed.
