Pros

  • Certified on Three Fronts: gfJules says its flour and mixes are Certified Gluten-Free by GFCO, certified kosher by the Orthodox Union and Certified Free From the Big 9 allergens, made in a dedicated gluten-free facility.
  • One Flour for Most Recipes: The All Purpose Gluten Free Flour swaps one for one with wheat flour, costs $15.99 for 1.5 lb or $33.99 for 4.5 lb, and averages 4.9 stars from 4,289 reviews on the store.
  • Same-Day Dispatch and Canada Rates: Orders paid before 3 p.m. Eastern ship the same day, and Canadian orders get flat rates from $22 that include duties and customs fees on orders up to CA$200.

Cons

  • Orders under $125 pay about $10 to $13 for shipping, and Alaska, Hawaii, PO boxes and military addresses get standard shipping only, usually without the free offer, so a case of 4, 6 or 12 bags or a bundle is the easiest way to reach the threshold.
  • If you find after delivery that you cannot eat an ingredient, such as the corn and potato starch in the all-purpose flour, you pay shipping both ways, and refunds cover unopened products returned within 30 days, so read each label before you order.

The Verdict

What sets gfJules apart is a flour developed by a celiac founder for her own kitchen and sold with gluten-free, kosher and allergen-free certifications: Jules Shepard was diagnosed with celiac disease in 1999, left her work as an attorney and spent two years perfecting an all-purpose gluten-free flour, which she first sold in 2008. She now runs gfJules with her husband Jeff, sells through shop.gfjules.com and publishes hundreds of recipes on gfjules.com. The company says its products are Certified Gluten-Free by GFCO, whose standard is 10 ppm or less, certified kosher by the Orthodox Union and Certified Free From the Big 9 allergens, and that they are made in a dedicated gluten-free facility. The flour blends modified tapioca starch, potato starch, corn starch, white rice flour, corn flour and xanthan gum, with no brown rice flour, and is meant to replace wheat flour one for one. The All Purpose Gluten Free Flour costs $15.99 for 1.5 lb, $33.99 for 4.5 lb and $162.99 for a 25-lb bag. The Bread Mix costs $15.99, Pizza Crust Mix $16.99, Pancake & Waffle Mix $13.99 and Cookie Mix $12.99, while newer mixes such as Snickerdoodle and 10-Minute Focaccia cost $7.99. Grain-free NADA Flour costs $18.99, and the Starter Pack with Bread Mix costs $99.97 with free shipping. Orders of $125 or more ship free in the lower 48 states, and orders paid before 3 p.m. Eastern leave the warehouse in Maryland the same day. Subscribe & Save takes 5 to 20% off and can be changed or cancelled at any time. Know the limits before you buy. Shipping below $125 adds roughly $10 to $13, and international orders cost more, though Canada has flat rates from $22 that include duties. The facility also handles dairy, eggs, soy and some tree nuts, kept off the gfJules lines and out of the same room, and the products are not organic. Returns cover unopened products within 30 days, and you pay both ways if an ingredient is the problem. Reviews come from the store itself and awards from a consumer vote brands enter, though support answers by phone as well as email if a bake goes wrong. If you bake often, a 4.5-lb bag and one mix is the sensible first order.

Certified Gluten-Free Flour and Baking Mixes, Free From the Top 9 Allergens

gfJules is the company of Jules Shepard, a former attorney diagnosed with celiac disease in 1999, who first sold her all-purpose gluten-free flour in 2008 and now runs the business with her husband Jeff. Recipes live on gfjules.com and products sell through shop.gfjules.com, which lists a warehouse with local pickup at 10711 Red Run Blvd, #108, Owings Mills, Maryland, and a returns address in Baltimore. The range covers the all-purpose flour, a sourdough and baking flour, grain-free NADA Flour, about a dozen mixes, purity-protocol oats, baking tools and Jules' books.

On 1 November 2026 the All Purpose Gluten Free Flour cost $15.99 for 1.5 lb, $33.99 for 4.5 lb and $162.99 for 25 lb. The Gluten-Free Sourdough & Baking Flour cost $15.99, NADA Flour $18.99, the Bread Mix $15.99, Pizza Crust Mix $16.99, Pancake & Waffle Mix $13.99, Muffin Mix $10.99 and Cornbread Mix $9.99. The Starter Pack with Bread Mix cost $99.97 with free shipping, and cases of 4, 6 or 12 bags cost less per bag.

gfJules says its products are Certified Gluten-Free by GFCO, certified kosher by the Orthodox Union and Certified Free From the Big 9 allergens, made with non-GMO ingredients in a dedicated gluten-free facility; dairy, eggs, soy and some tree nuts are in the building but not on its lines. Orders of $125 or more ship free in the lower 48, and orders paid before 3 p.m. Eastern ship the same day. Alaska, Hawaii, PO boxes and military addresses get standard shipping of 5 to 8 business days, Canada has flat rates from $22 that include duties on orders up to CA$200, and other countries see rates at checkout.

Unopened products can be returned within 30 days for a refund of the purchase price, defective or damaged items are replaced, and you pay return shipping, both ways if an ingredient is the reason. We found no Trustpilot or BBB profile; the store's own reviews give the all-purpose flour 4.9 stars from 4,289 reviews, and gfJules has won the consumer-voted Gluten Free Awards, which brands enter, in several years.

How to choose a flour or mix

Start with the All Purpose Gluten Free Flour if you want to keep baking your own recipes: it already contains xanthan gum, and a 4.5-lb bag ($33.99) holds about 15 cups. It contains corn and potato starch, so check the label if you avoid either.

For bread and pizza, the Bread Mix ($15.99) and Pizza Crust Mix ($16.99) take the guesswork out of yeast doughs, and the Sourdough & Baking Flour suits starters. For breakfasts and treats, the Pancake & Waffle, Muffin and Cookie mixes are simple first buys.

If you avoid grains, NADA Flour ($18.99) is grain-free and nut-free. New to gluten-free baking? The Starter Pack with Bread Mix ($99.97) bundles flour, mixes and recipes with free shipping.

Deals & pricing

The all-purpose flour costs $15.99 for 1.5 lb, $33.99 for 4.5 lb and $162.99 for 25 lb, and most mixes cost $7.99 to $16.99. Cases of 4, 6 or 12 bags lower the price per bag and help reach the $125 free-shipping level.

Subscribe & Save takes 5 to 20% off repeat orders, lists free shipping on orders of $99 or more, and can be changed or cancelled at any time. The Starter Pack and the 5 New Mixes Mash-Up ($39.99) include free shipping. We do not list coupon codes we cannot verify. gfJules: questions people ask

Straight answers about gfJules, then how this review was written and stays independent.

About gfJules

Is gfJules flour certified gluten-free?

Yes, according to gfJules. The company says its flour and mixes are Certified Gluten-Free by the Gluten-Free Certification Organization (GFCO), whose standard requires products to test at 10 ppm of gluten or less, and that they are made in a dedicated gluten-free facility. Jules Shepard, the founder, has celiac disease herself.

Is gfJules flour free of other allergens?

gfJules says its products are Certified Free From the Big 9 allergens: wheat, milk, eggs, peanuts, tree nuts, soy, fish, crustaceans and sesame. Its FAQ adds that dairy, eggs, soy and some tree nuts are in the facility but not on gfJules' lines or in the same room, and that sunflower runs on the line for other products, with cleaning between runs.

Is gfJules flour organic or non-GMO?

It is not certified organic. gfJules says all its ingredients are non-GMO and that some raw ingredients are organic, but not all, because it puts gluten-free safety and baking performance first. It also says its suppliers do not test for glyphosate. The products are certified kosher by the Orthodox Union and are vegan.

Does gfJules ship to Canada, Australia or the UK?

Yes, gfJules ships internationally. Canada has flat rates that include duties and customs fees on orders up to CA$200, starting at $22 for up to 12 lb. For Australia, the UK and other countries, rates appear at checkout and are higher, and any duties are the buyer's responsibility. In the U.S., orders of $125 or more ship free to the lower 48.

What is gfJules' return policy?

gfJules refunds the purchase price of unopened products returned within 30 days, once they arrive back, and replaces defective or damaged items. You pay return shipping, and if you return something because of an ingredient you cannot eat, you pay shipping both ways. Contact [email protected] first; a receipt or proof of purchase is required.

Can I use gfJules flour cup for cup?

Yes, that is how it is designed. gfJules All Purpose Gluten Free Flour already contains xanthan gum, so you swap it one for one for wheat all-purpose flour without adding gums. A 1.5-lb bag holds about 5 cups and a 4.5-lb bag about 15 cups.

About this review

Is this gfJules review sponsored?

No. gfJules did not pay for this write-up, see it before publication, or have any say in the verdict. If we earn anything it is a commission after you buy, and it comes out of the merchant’s margin rather than your price.

How was the gfJules assessed?

By using it and by checking the claims made about it against what it actually does. Where our time with something has been limited, the review says so rather than implying more testing than happened.

What else have you reviewed in Food & Drinks?

Everything in Food & Drinks sits in the review library, where you can filter by budget and sort by rating, price or how recently it landed.

Do you update reviews after publishing?

Yes — when a product changes, when a price moves for good, or when we get something wrong. Corrections are made on the piece itself with a note saying what changed.
