Questions
How do I calculate a discount?
Multiply the price by the discount and divide by 100, then subtract. 25% off $80 is $80 × 25 ÷ 100 = $20 off, so you pay $60.
Why is 30% + 20% off not 50% off?
The extra 20% is taken from the already-discounted price. On $100: 30% off leaves $70, then 20% off $70 leaves $56 — a 44% total discount.
Is sales tax added before or after the discount?
In the US, sales tax is usually charged on the discounted price, and that is how this calculator works. Some coupons and states are exceptions, so check your receipt.
