Questions

Can I use these on products I sell in stores?

The barcode image is valid, but retail EAN/UPC numbers must be registered with GS1 so they are unique to your company. Code 128 is fine for your own inventory.

How do I get a UPC number for my product?

Retail UPC and EAN numbers are issued by GS1 (GS1 US in the United States, GS1 Canada and GS1 Australia). Once you have your number, enter it here to make the barcode image.

Which type should I pick?

Code 128 for general labels and inventory; EAN-13 or UPC-A for retail products with a GS1 number; ITF-14 for outer cartons.

Do I need to type the check digit?

No. For EAN and UPC barcodes the last digit is a check digit: leave it off and it is calculated for you.
