Udemy, Inc. is headquartered at 600 Harrison Street, San Francisco, and US and Canadian learners contract with it under California law. Since 11 May 2026 it has been a wholly owned subsidiary of Coursera, Inc. (NYSE: COUR), after a merger that retired the UDMY listing. Udemy reports more than 250,000 courses, over 75 languages, 80 million students, 1.1 billion enrollments and learners in more than 180 countries, alongside Udemy Business, its enterprise product.
Individual courses are one-time purchases listed between $19.99 and $199.99: the Complete Python Bootcamp and Complete JavaScript Course list at $199.99, Machine Learning A-Z and the Ultimate AWS Cloud Practitioner course at $159.99, 100 Days of Code: Python and Ultimate AWS Solutions Architect Associate at $129.99, the Complete Full-Stack Web Development Bootcamp at $124.99 and CompTIA Security+ at $119.99. Frequent promotions cut these sharply, with early September's sale starting from $11.99. The Personal Plan starts from $13 a month as published, billed monthly or annually, for access to more than 28,000 courses.

Refunds, access & subscriptions
Most individual course purchases can be refunded within 30 days if the course isn't what you expected. Udemy decides whether the refund comes back as credit or to your original payment method, depending on where you bought, and credits can't be spent in the mobile or TV apps. Heavy use of a course before asking, or repeated refunds, can lead to a refusal.
Courses you buy individually come with lifetime access, unless Udemy has to disable one for legal or policy reasons, which entitles you to a refund even after 30 days. Subscription plans work differently: access lasts while you pay, a free trial renews automatically unless you cancel first, and cancellation stops access at the end of the billing period with no refund of fees already paid.
You must be 18 to open an account; younger learners from 13 in the US can learn through a parent's account.
What Udemy offers
Udemy reports more than 250,000 courses in over 75 languages, from coding, cloud and data to business, design and personal development, taught by independent instructors. You can buy single courses as one-time purchases or subscribe to a plan with access to a library of courses.
Udemy Business sells course access to companies under its own agreement, and some purchases, such as coaching services and exam vouchers, follow separate terms and fall outside the 30-day refund. Since May 2026 Udemy has been part of Coursera.
How to choose a course
Start with the course page: read recent reviews, check the rating and number of students, watch the preview lessons and look at the date it was last updated, which matters most for fast-moving subjects such as cloud certifications and programming. Compare the instructor's background and the course length with what you need.
If you're unsure, buy during a sale and sample the first sections early, so that you're still well inside the 30-day refund window and haven't used much of the course if it isn't right.
