Pros

  • An Assessment With Real Structure: The General Cognitive Assessment runs 30 to 40 minutes across 14-plus neuropsychological tasks, scoring attention, memory, coordination, perception and reasoning against age- and education-adjusted norms drawn from more than three million completed assessments.
  • Research It Will Name: The company cites more than 210 peer-reviewed studies, 25-plus randomised controlled trials, 180-plus studies in clinical populations and collaborations with Tel Aviv University, the University of Haifa, Albert Einstein College of Medicine and the University of Washington — a searchable database rather than a vague claim.
  • Priced Across Every Use: Basic at $19.99 a month or $119.99 a year, Premium at $29.99 a month or $169.99 a year, a three-year Premium at $249.99, family plans for two to ten members, and separate clinician, researcher, education and corporate tracks.

Cons

  • It is a training and self-assessment tool rather than a diagnostic one — the company says so plainly in its own terms, and results are meant to sit alongside a professional opinion, never in place of one.
  • The plan prices sit in the help centre rather than on the pricing page, so it is worth checking the tier you want before you start the trial.

The Verdict

What sets CogniFit apart is that it will show you the research: Brain training is a category where claims have historically run well ahead of evidence, so the useful question is what a company will actually cite. CogniFit publishes a searchable database of 345 outputs and points to more than 210 peer-reviewed studies, 25-plus randomised controlled trials, 180-plus studies in clinical populations and named academic collaborations with Tel Aviv University, the University of Haifa, Albert Einstein College of Medicine and the University of Washington. That is not the same as proof, but it is a great deal more than the category norm. The product itself is a cognitive assessment plus a training programme. The General Cognitive Assessment takes 30 to 40 minutes, is available from age seven, and combines a wellbeing questionnaire with 14-plus task-games covering attention, memory, coordination, perception and reasoning — scored against age- and education-adjusted norms built from more than three million assessments. Basic is $19.99 a month or $119.99 a year with 20-plus games and one training programme; Premium is $29.99 a month or $169.99 a year with 60-plus games and every programme; a three-year Premium runs $249.99. Family, clinician, researcher, education and corporate tracks sit alongside. Be clear on what it is not, because the company is: its terms state the service is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease, is not a medical device, and does not constitute medical or diagnostic advice. Subscriptions auto-renew, cancellation takes effect at the end of the current term, and refunds are available only within the first 30 days. Treat it as training you enjoy doing, and take any result to a professional rather than from one.

Cognitive Assessment and Training, With the Studies Attached

CogniFit is a web and mobile cognitive assessment and brain-training subscription, with separate consumer, family, clinician, researcher, education and corporate tracks. The flagship is the General Cognitive Assessment, taking 30 to 40 minutes and available from age seven, which combines a wellbeing questionnaire with more than 14 neuropsychological task-games. These cover attention including divided, focused, inhibition and updating; memory including phonological short-term, contextual, short-term, non-verbal, visual short-term, working and naming; coordination including hand-eye and response time; perception including auditory, visual, spatial, estimation, recognition and visual scanning; and reasoning and executive function including planning, processing speed and shifting. Results are scored against age- and education-adjusted norms drawn from more than three million completed assessments.

US pricing from the company's help centre: Basic at $19.99 per month, covering 20-plus games and tasks, one training programme and one at-home evaluation; Premium at $29.99 per month, covering 60-plus games and tasks and all programmes and workouts; Basic annual at $119.99; Premium annual at $169.99; and a three-year Premium at $249.99, with no three-year Basic offered. Family plans are annual only for two to ten members with a stated discount for each additional member. Professional, clinician and researcher plans are available monthly or annually with prices not published, alongside an offer of one month free with ten licences.

On evidence, the company's science page cites more than 210 peer-reviewed studies, 18,000-plus participants across more than 100 countries, 25-plus randomised controlled trials, 180-plus studies in clinical populations, 23 cognitive abilities and more than 20 years of research, alongside a searchable database of 345 outputs and named collaborations with Tel Aviv University, the University of Haifa, Albert Einstein College of Medicine and the University of Washington. Commercially it describes the platform as clinical grade, HIPAA ready and GDPR compliant.

The company's own terms set out the limits plainly and they are worth reading before purchase: the service is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease; it has no indication that it is or should be considered a medical device by the Food and Drug Administration or the European Medicines Agency; and it does not constitute medical, psychological or diagnostic advice. The assessment page adds that the computerised assessment cannot be intended for use in the diagnosis of any disease or condition, and that results should be used in addition to a professional diagnosis rather than as a substitute for one. Subscriptions auto-renew monthly or annually until cancelled, with cancellation taking effect at the end of the current term and no refund of the current period; refunds are available only within the first 30 days of subscription, processed within 30 business days. App Store and Google Play purchases must be refunded through those platforms, and a free trial must be cancelled before it ends to avoid a charge.

About this review

How this was written, who paid for what, and how the verdict stays independent.

Is this CogniFit review sponsored?

No. CogniFit did not pay for this write-up, see it before publication, or have any say in the verdict. If we earn anything it is a commission after you buy, and it comes out of the merchant’s margin rather than your price.

How was the CogniFit assessed?

By using it and by checking the claims made about it against what it actually does. Where our time with something has been limited, the review says so rather than implying more testing than happened.

Is the price on this page what I will pay?

The figure here is the price we last saw at CogniFit, and merchants move prices without warning. Check the merchant’s page before you commit — if what you see there is lower, that is the one that counts.

What else have you reviewed in Software & Utilities?

Everything in Software & Utilities sits in the review library, where you can filter by budget and sort by rating, price or how recently it landed.

Do you update reviews after publishing?

Yes — when a product changes, when a price moves for good, or when we get something wrong. Corrections are made on the piece itself with a note saying what changed.
