What sets Virgin Connect Roam apart is that it is a genuine Virgin telecom product rather than a borrowed name: The eSIM is run by Beyond ONE Link FZ-LLC in Dubai, part of the Beyond ONE group that owns Virgin Mobile Middle East & Africa and Virgin Mobile LATAM, and Virgin.com confirms its telecom investments operate in those regions as Virgin Mobile. It is unrelated to the Russian internet provider that once used a similar name. Roam sells data-only eSIMs for 190+ countries as single-country, regional and global packs, managed in an app that tracks usage, handles top-ups and checks whether your phone is compatible. The plan clock starts only when the eSIM first connects to a supported network abroad, so you can install it at home days before departure without losing any validity. In the USA the plans run on three partner networks, and in Japan on four. Prices are in US dollars and sit at the low end of the travel eSIM market. A USA plan runs from $3.00 for 1GB over 7 days to $9.00 for 5GB, $15.00 for 10GB and $26.00 for 20GB, each valid 30 days, with 50GB at $59.50 and 100GB at $108.00. Japan costs $10.00 for 5GB and $15.00 for 10GB, and Canada, on Rogers 5G, is pricier at $15.00 for 5GB and $28.00 for 10GB. The eSIM is free with any plan, payment is by card, Apple Pay or Google Pay, and a referral code gives a friend 25% off their first pack. The reservations are about the refund terms and the short track record. You can get a full refund only within 15 days and only if the eSIM was never installed or activated. Once you use any data, unused data is not refunded, and refunds can take up to 30 business days to appear. The service launched widely in 2025, has no Trustpilot profile and holds 4.4 from 69 US App Store ratings, with one reviewer saying support hours were limited. The terms fall under UAE law, and card payments go through Tap Payments, a Gulf-based gateway.
